After Lettice made it clear that she would not wish Anne welcome as the new lady of The Old Hall, Anne was left with a difficult choice. To live with someone that hates you, to have an enemy in your own close family? This was definately not what Anne wanted for herself. But to cancel the wedding on the weddingday also seemed exaggerated.
But I do love him, Anne said to herself that night. Isn't that the most important thing? And think about all the invited guests!
And the cake and all the food!! No, I must go through with it.
The silence was impervious as Lettice and Anne went to the hairdresser on the day of the wedding.
Neither Lettice nor Anne had anything to say to each other.
- This will not be easy, Anne thought to herself.
- Oh no! I forgot my my wallet in the car! Anne suddenly realized, and ran out to get it.
- Your stepmother is such a sweet person! The apprentice said, Nothing like the evil stepmothers from the fairytales, that's for sure! You must be very happy to have her in the family.
- I guess... Littice said and shrugged her shoulders.
At the Wedding garden, where the wedding was going to take place, Lettice still thought about what the hairdressing apprentice had said. Actually she is not that bad, she thought. For the most time she is really friendly.
My father could have done worse. What if he got married to some busybody like Miss Harnell or something! That would be a real pain in the you-know-where!
- I'm really happy for you dad, she suddenly said. I really am!
Anne looked really wonderful in her pale violet dress, and the colonel smiled happily when she arrived.
- If anyone has reason for these two not to wed, speak now or forever hold your peace, the minister said
- I do!! Eh...I mean, I object! Anne's voice went as a shock through the congregation. - Or, wait, I just need a minute. Lucius, I need to talk to you! Now!
- Now?! Can't it wait? It's quite embarrassing...
- Unless you want me to cancel the whole thing...
- Okay, okay. Let's go inside.
- Lucius, I do love you. And I know you care about me. But your daughter is very much against this wedding, and I'm not sure if would be right to get married right now.
- She is not against it, she told so herself, just now!
- Are you sure?
- Yes, no doubt about it. Not that it should be necessary, but wait, I will get her and you can hear it from her yourself.
- Well Lettice, tell her, please!
- I don't want my father to marry anyone but you!
- Really??
- Yes, really. And I know we will get along just fine. I'm sorry that I made you worry about... stuff
- I don't know if I should laugh or cry! I think I do both ha-ha! You've made me very happy Lettice, this is such a relief! Now let's get married! Your father and I, I mean!
It was such a beautiful seremony!
Everybody was happy for them
And some more than others!
A lovely couple!
So romantic!
And the party was also a success!
With enjoyable speaches
Great entertainment
Lovely duets
With an element of comedy.
And dancing of course.
It was just a wonderful wedding. Just like in the fairytales. But without the evil stepmother.
(But it is NOT the end of course. It is only the beginning of another story.)
The characters and buildings from this story are from the AnnoSims Group project St. Mary Mead, loosly based on the novels of Agatha Christie. (Anno Sims is now closed, but you can find my own creations for the project here at KSW.)

I am grinning with tears in my eyes. Kyria, you are a great story-teller, you model your characters so marvelously - they are perfect for the roles in which you cast them.
ReplyDeleteI have a lot of fun when making up these stories, but sometimes I think the sims themselves are the ones making it... The game surprises me all the time, that's the fun of it!
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying your site Kyria, so glad you've joined us over at Custom Sims, and I look forward to reading more from your "Chronicles" ... :)
