The "joy therapy" had a good effect on Fiona
She became more social and friendly
And she became more creative and inspired. Which led to a Sous-chef position at Le Coq Fou, the most sophisticated restaurant in Hidden Springs.
She was also inspired to go to the gym. In the beginning she hated it, but after a while it was okay.
Herman the trainer, made it even more interesting. He was eyecandy, that's for sure.
Fiona was quite flattered when he invited her to his garden party.
- And when he told me about when he lost his wife in that terrible accident last year, I realized he was not just a hunk, but a real person with feelings, just like me! And I realized that not all men are bastards.
- Of course not, Ingrid Bogen the psychologist replied. But watch out for any temptation to fix him. You don't want to end up as anybody's nurse. Or psychologist. I'm not sure if you are ready for a serious relationship just yet. Or did you start a relationship already?
- No! No, of course not!, Fiona answered, a little to quickly. Technically, I'm not lying, she said to herself. It isnot a relationship, just a small flirt....
- Aha, so you slept with him you mean? Stavroulla said in her usual direct way.
Fiona blushed.
- Eh well, yes. But he was so adorable! How could I resist? God knows when I will get the chance again, especially the way I look...
- I'm not sure it was a good idea Fiona. But you are a grown up woman so you know what is best for you. Are you going to see him again?
- No, I don't think so. We don't really have much in common. He is a sweet person, but I'm not really in love with him. Attraction is not everything!
The truth was that Fiona avoided the gym after that. She decided it would be less complicated if she exercised elsewhere.
- I love cycling, but I'm wondering about the effect, because my weight simply wont go down, she told Stavroulla on the phone.
- It's not unusual, Stavroulla explained. You are probably just building muscles. They weigh more than fat, as you probably have heard.
Even the girls was bitten by the exercise eagerness in the house. They both were quite athletic and really enjoyed the ballet classes.
- They are such good girls, Fiona smiled to herself. - I am really privileged. And they grow up so fast! (The picture above is from Filipa's 13th birthday, and next to her is Stavroulla's son Sebastian)
Filipa was becoming a young woman.
- She reminds me so much of myself at that age, Fiona explained to Ingrid the psychologist
- But I can't remember I ever answered my mother back like she does.
- Maybe you should have? Ingrid replied.
- I never rebelled against my parents, I was too afraid. Especially of my father.
- That's why you have difficulties to say NO and setting boundaries now. You never really learned how to! That will be your exercise for the weeks ahead. Protest when someone try to make you do something you don't want to do. At the super marked, at work, with friends. And be happy that your daughters exercise their ability to say No on you. That will come in handy later in life.
Fiona's friends from the shelter all thought it was a clever exercise.
- I will practice the NO-word myself, Åse said. Unless for your home made cookies. I can't say no tho those.
- You don't have any problem, Fiona said, you can eat cookies everyday and still be slim. But for me I just have to think about cookies and I put on weight. I've put on another eight pounds the last six weeks, and I really don't understand why! I mean how much muscles am I'm going to put on!
- Maybe you are pregnant? Åse laughed.
- Ha-ha! I've just been dating Fabian for three weeks, and we haven't really come to that point yet.
- Oh-la-la! The mysterious Mr Fabian! When will we meet him? the girls teased her
- Fiona! Stavroulla put her aside. Åse might be right! What was his name again? That cute guy from the gym!
- Herman the Hunk? Naah! That's four months ago! I've had my period after that.
- But Fiona! Did you sleep with him without protection?!! Oh Fiona, this is not good. Small bleedings are not uncommon in the beginning of the pregnancy. You should check this out immediately!
Fiona took a pregnancy test the next morning. It was clear. Fiona was pregnant.
- I can't believe how unlucky I am! But of course luck hasn't got anything to do with it... How could I be so stupid?! What am I going to tell Fabian? Pregnant with another man's child - he wont stay long! And my daughters? This is so embarrassing and ridiculous! What am I going to do?
